Lawrence A. Smith founded Hanson-Smith, Ltd. with Trevor Hanson in 1980, after leaving computer timesharing vendor National CSS, where they worked together in Stamford, Norwalk, and eventually Wilton Connecticut.
Larry was a legendary marketeer, known in particular throughout the timesharing industry for his work with NOMAD, and also for his time as an ACM lecturer on database design. He had extraordinary analytic and presentation skills, and was a very quick study – he could instantly learn and integrate new concepts and technologies, and was usually the first one in the room to “connect the dots” when tackling a problem. His agile mind and interdisciplinary perspective made him an ideal consultant.
Larry died in 1996 of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, a rare lung disease.
We’ll try to post more information about Larry in the future. Feel free to contact us by clicking here to e-mail Trevor Hanson if you have any questions.
